The Moment of Focus: Capturing the Opportunity

How often we see ourselves in a situation where split seconds are the difference between success and regret. I would say failure but that is just a temporary moment in time, not a permanent state of being. When it comes down to it, we have to really grind down the burs, blurry viewfinders, and focus on the beautiful photo or moment in front of you. Soi many times I have taken my camera looking for wildlife, only to be confronted with weather, crowds, or the once in a lifetime shot. Knowing that I know I'll never get again is an incredible feeling, with the adrenaline and trying to slow your heartbeat. There are so many different examples of this in our lives, but we can't dwell on the past missed experiences: it is what it is, either missed, lost, stolen or whatever. There is an old expression that really drives this home: "there is a reason the rear-view mirror is smaller than the windshield".

I really enjoy being behind the camera, snapping photos of wildlife and mountains, but it also has taught me some important lessons as well. You have to be quick and sure about some photographic opportunities in this job. The same goes for accepting Jesus Christ into our lives, and trusting Him to instantly wash you clean, freeing you of the sin in our lives. That very action by Jesus Christ isn't slow, but it is instant and amazing. No picture will ever do it justice, nor will any camera ever snap a picture as sharp and bright as a new soul shining with the Blood of Jesus Christ's love.
