Storms of Life
Wow, all I can say is what a weekend we had with storms and the wild Shenandoah Valley humidity. I was driving through the worst storm I've encountered while driving home the other day. It was completely dark, blinding hail and rain that turned into a complete driving disaster. It was then that I had to take a blind left turn in complete darkness to continue on home, with another few miles before it eased up enough to see. With very minor damage done, we still had our power.
Sometimes we are hit, blindsided, beat down (never up, think about it) and trampled down by life. But you know what, sometimes those are the very things that seem to build us back up. In a seemingly strange twist of irony, what seems like a bad day at one time, will be our looking back at moment that doesn't seem so bad after all. Think about the important men in the Bible, and how at one point they had lost everything and it seemed that they would've had every right to lose it and be bitter. But with their strong faith and trust in God, they got everything back 100 times the amount.
We need to get a mindset (raises hand, me too) that amplifies the smallest issue so we can see how small it really is. Now I'm not talking about going ballistic and wild, but sit down and think about it, or talk it over. Last night my wife and I after having a great day, we sat down to read the Bible. It was a perfect example of how a great day can turn edgy, and we started to read the Bible, without praying and thanking God for everything. Neither of us were able to focus and pronounce words. After a quick gut check and praying, we're able to resume the nightly reading.
Sometimes when we fly by the seat of our pants, disregarding air traffic control, aka God, we end up crashing. It is then that our mayday (prayer) goes out. Be willing to be humbled and listen to the signs of trouble.
