A Desiring Heart

As I sit here writing this I'm reminded of the many ways our hearts are full of desires, dreams, pain and worry. So many different things weighing on our hearts and minds that oftentimes we are easily swayed. It's pretty easy to get overwhelmed and start to desire fun and easy things in life...just to overcome the discomfort and feel at a false ease. But we must have faith in something real and tangible.... Someone we can't see but we can talk to and that hears our worry.

God knows our hearts desires and thoughts better than anyone. There's no way any human can decipher our thoughts, no card or palm reader telling us our so called real future. This is where faith and trusting the Lord comes into the conversation.....not wishes and desires and thoughts of all kinds. Your going to be tempted and disconnected from the Lord when the devil is on the act. Only the devil gives you the bad thoughts, while peace is from the Lord.

Another way to look at it is like making a Decision to start digging a hole and planting a tree. You have to have a solid Plan (Things needing to be done) in order to have a tree that will Grow ( desire) and Flourish (Goal) but you have to put make sure it's going to receive Fertilizer (prayer) and it's gotta solid Foundation (Effort) and make sure it's Air-tight (Faith)

So let's look at the 7 different things that are important for you and your desires and journey with Jesus Christ.

1. Decision. James 1:5. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

2. Plan. Proverbs 16:3: "Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established

3. Grow. Peter 3:18: "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

4. Flourish. John 15:5: "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.

5. Fertilizer. Proverbs 4:23,:"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it

6. Foundation. Matthew 7 24: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock

7. Air-tight. Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you

Without a decision to follow Jesus Christ and a plan to follow His word, you'll never grow and flourish because you have no fertilizer. You need a strong foundation that is air-tight. Any tree will weather storms and disease, illness attacks ect but with a firm effort and strong foundation, you be able to weather the storm (devil). Any air that's in a root hole will rot the tree and the roots won't have anything to absorb water and nutrients.

Our faith and desires must be rooted in faith and communication with the Lord Jesus Christ. Whether it be marriage, work hobbies business ect we must follow the same path, letting God be the lamp unto your feet. Where are your roots rooted and what is your foundation and fertilizer like?

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
